United States Naval Observatory
What time is it? Time to learn about the United States Naval Observatory! The USNO, by the way, happens to be the residence of Father Time...sort of. They're the official source of time for the U.S. Department of Defense as well as the entire United States. So, they do father time even though Father Time doesn't actually live there. One person who does happen to take up residence there, however, is the Vice President of the United States of America! The USNO also provides a wide variety of astronomical data and products.
So, that's the low down on the UNSO, but what else is in the predominantly residential neighborhood where the UNSO is located? Well, the Upper Northwest Neighborhood of Washington where the USNO resides, is also where you'll find the Washington National Cathedral, Rock Creek Park, and Anderson House. Capitol Hill, the largest historic residential neighborhood in Washington D.C. includes the Southeast and Northeast quadrants of the city with the Anacostia River to the East, the H Street Corridor to the North, the Washington Navy Yard to the South and the National Mall to the West.
There you have it...all that surrounds the USNO and the highly populated residential area that it calls home. Some particular communities within the area deserving honorable mention are: Observatory Circle, Massachusetts Avenue Heights, Cleveland Park and Glover Park.
Observatory Circle is a pleasingly graceful and stylish community that includes a mix of high end condos and town homes as well as a few single family homes such as colonials and estates. Most of these homes are well over $1 million.
Massachusetts Avenue Heights is a very affluent neighborhood with half of it located north of Observatory Circle and the other half as the property of the Cathedral.
Cleveland Park is very attractive due to its ability to retain most of its New England Charm. What else is desirable about Cleveland Park is the fact that it's removed a bit from the hustle and bustle of the center of the city. Here, you'll find many mansions and architecture with historical significance. However, you'll also find row houses.
Glover Park is full of single family homes and very quiet and peaceful. There are a few condos and apartments along Wisconsin Avenue, however.
These homes near US Naval Observatory are affluent and elegant. Most homes, as mentioned before, can carry price tags of well over a million dollars, the average listing price over all, however, is $912,975 approximately. To learn more, contact Djana.
